Living a Purposeful Life

Updated: Feb 7, 2025

What if your purpose in life was simpler than you thought? Jesus reveals that our ultimate purpose is rooted in love—loving God fully and sharing His love with others.

“Jesus answered him: ‘Love the Lord your God with every passion of your heart, with all the energy of your being, and with every thought that is within you.’ This is the great and supreme commandment. And the second is like it in importance: ‘You must love your friend in the same way you love yourself.’ Contained within these commandments to love, you will find all the meaning of the Law and the Prophets.”

Matthew 22:37-40 (TPT)

Have you ever wondered what your purpose is in life? The search for purpose can sometimes feel overwhelming or even elusive, but Jesus simplifies it for us in these verses from Matthew. Our ultimate purpose is rooted in love—loving God with everything we are and loving others as ourselves.

Living with purpose doesn’t have to be complicated. When we focus on building a relationship with God and sharing His love with those around us, we naturally align with the purpose He’s designed for us. This purpose applies to all believers, and as we grow in love, God reveals more specific ways we can impact the world.

Living a purposeful life means being intentional in our relationships, how we use our time, and how we invest in God’s kingdom. It’s about recognizing that every action, no matter how small, can be an act of love and worship.

Steps to a Purposeful Life
  • Deepen your relationship with God – Spend time in His Word and in prayer, seeking to know Him more intimately.

  • Love others intentionally – Look for opportunities to serve, encourage, and show kindness to those around you.

  • Embrace God’s calling – As you walk in love, trust that God will guide you into specific areas where He wants you to make an impact.
