The Joy of Christmas: A Time to Reflect and Celebrate

Updated: Feb 7

"But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.’" Luke 2:10-11 NIV

The spirit of Christmas fills the air with joy and expectation. As we come together to celebrate, we can reflect on the true reason for this season—Jesus’ miraculous and humble birth. Though some may debate the exact timing or wonder about the significance of traditions like the Christmas tree, one truth remains: the mighty King Jesus came to earth to fulfill God's promise.

In the Old Testament, God instructed His people to observe days of remembrance, such as the Passover and the Day of Atonement, as reminders of His great works. Today, it remains vital for us to regularly reflect on what He has done. Remembering His past acts strengthens our faith for what He can do now and in the future. The Bible also tells us that "the joy of the Lord is our strength" (Nehemiah 8:10). So, as we remember the Savior's birth, let’s also celebrate with joy and thanksgiving!

This season, we encourage you to reflect on the goodness and mercy of God. Meditate on the miraculous birth of Jesus and the lives of those who were part of His story. As we celebrate together, let the joy of Jesus fill your heart and mind!
